Inductive sensors are non-contact sensors that operate on the principle of an L / C resonant circuit with a high-frequency coil located in the open part of the core. If an electrically conductive material enters the coil's electric field, eddy currents are induced in it. In the vicinity of the conductive material, an induced current generates an electric field which causes a reduction in the amplitude of the resonant circuit and is converted to the sensor output signal by means of the evaluation circuits.
Electrically conductive materials have different properties. Therefore, the sensitivity (sensing distance) of the sensor varies depending on the material. The sensing distance given in the catalog is according to EN 50010 and the reference material is iron (FE37).

Note: The actual sensing distance of the material is calculated as the product of the sensing distance from the catalog and the material reduction coefficient.
